Shawnee Mountain Ski Weekend
Another great camping trip. There were over two dozen of us heading up north to the Pocono's to take up the Hoffman's offer to stay at their Pocono's home. Mr. Hoffman fixed up a couple of batches of chili (thank you Sandersons/O'boyle's for the donated chili) that kept things hopping - nice spicy chilli. By the time we settled down it was 11:30 for lights out. Mr. Robin gave us a wake up call at 5:30 the next morning as we went over to Shawnee mountain for their Scout Ski, board and tube weekend. We finally got everyone situated (including the tubers - thanks Mr. Pound) and off we went. It was a long day, with a lot of tired Scouts, after all of that fun. Our Troop got in their Class A's and headed to the spaghetti dinner. Lots of compliments on our well behaved and well dressed Troop at dinner. On the way back to Hoffman's the guys let me know that they were soooooo tired and couldn't stay awake for a campfire. Instead we went to the refurbished barn and told several campfire stories (who can forget Chief Falling Rocks or the tale of the Black Castle). Back to the house under a beautiful starry sky (we gotta bring a telescope one of these days). Lights out in no time. We enjoyed a big breakfast and cleaned up after ourselves. As always - this can not be done with out the generous donation of their Pocono's home, so many, many thanks to the Hoffman family. Thanks to the leaders who gave up their weekend, and to the drivers. Here are a few photo's from the trip, along with my personal commentary. See you at Shawnee next year - and take some ski lessons!!!!
Mr. Houseal and Mr. Motsek on the lookout - where are those ski bunnies?
The announcement you never want to hear "will a leader from Troop 406 come
to Ski Patrol." Luckily enough - we never got that call, although
many other Troops did. So thanks to the Scouts and Scouters for not
breaking anything.
Time to chow down, those hoagies and juice boxes hit the spot after a ful
morning on the slopes.
Nick shows how easy it can be - all you do is "pizza", "pizza", "pizza".

Troop for Shawnee Ski weekend (minus Mr. Motsek who is taking the photo)
