Center Trip April 16th, 17th, 18th
TO COMPLETE THE ASTRONOMY AND SPACE EXPLORATION MERIT BADGES DO, THE FOLLOWING: Space Exploration: Answer questions 1,2,6,7 and 8 in the merit badge book. Keep it short and to the point. A. Draw a picture of a rocket and label the parts , tell what each of the parts does. If you have a model rocket bring it in for inspection. If you do not have one you will need to build and launch one. B. Describe what you did at the Challenger center during the Mars mission when you were in the mission control and in the space habitation module. C. Describe what you saw on the Goddard tour. What interesting facts did you learn? Astronomy: A. Parents are welcome to stay at the hotel, Scouts will camp with the Troop (this is not optional).
Holiday
Inn's group sales agent, Lisa Hahn, was very "accommodating." She is reserving
a block of 20 rooms, (checking in on Friday, April 16th, checking out
Sunday, April 18th). The block for "Boy Scout TROOP 406 - Royersford" is for
all non-smoking rooms, each with 2 double beds, at a rate of only $79 plus tax.
That is actually $10 cheaper than their lowest internet rate. Anyone who wants
to reserve a room at the Holiday Inn can call the hotel's direct tollfree number
by April 9, and if there are any rooms in our reserved block not filled by that
date, the hotel will put them back into their general public availability. Tell
everyone who calls to give the name of our group - Boy Scout TROOP 406 - to get
the special $79 plus tax special rate. The hotel's direct tollfree number is

Why do we need a space suit Take Rt. 422 East to KOP Get on the SureKill and go East towards Philly. Take Rt. 476 South to Rt. 95 South Take Rt. 95 South to Rt. 495 South towards Baltimore Rt. 495 will again merge into Rt. 95 At Delaware State line (2.00? toll) Follow Rt. 95 south to Rt. 695. Rt. 95 splits, stay to the left and go left down the ramp. Take Rt. 695 to the Key Bridge, ($1.00 Toll @ bridge) Follow Rt. 695 to the Rt. 295 South, (Baltimore Washington Parkway) Follow Rt. 295 south, to Route 193 West, Greenbelt Road Exit Make a left at the light and get in the right lane. Take Greenbelt road West. (The Greenbelt road exit is right after the NASA exit.) Take Greenbelt Rd. West, get in the left lanes. At the next light turn left into Greenbelt park. Follow the road around and take a right at the Tee Follow the road around to the Ranger station. After going through the camping entrance gate, Follow the road around to the campground. Note: On the way back home on Rt. 95 there is a $4.00 toll. Directions to Challenger Center At Greenbelt park entrance make a right on to Greeenbelt Rd. Rt. 193. Follow Greenbelt Rd. East past the NASA Goddard main gate. The next light will be Soil Conservation Rd. Go through the light get into the right lane. On your right, before the next light you will see a school parking lot. Make a right turn into the lot this is the Ownes Science Center and the challenger center. Directions to Lunch Exit the Science Center and turn Rt. take Greenbelt Rd east. Turn Rt. at the 3rd light into the plaza to (KFC, McD, Pizza hut, Chinese buffet) Directions to Wild Live Center Exit the plaza , turn left on Greenbelt Rd. and go West. At the second light, turn Rt. on to Soil Conservation Rd. At the 2nd light turn right onto Power Mill Road. Follow Power Mill Road to the National Wildlife center, (about 2 miles on your Right) Directions to Greenbelt Park Exit Wildlife center and go left, pass the light, go under the bridge and turn left onto the Rt. 295 South and follow the directions to Greenbelt park.
