CAMPING GEAR LIST
A gear list for a
backpacking trip is here
The following is a list of equipment that will be needed by a Scout attending a typical Troop 406 weekend camping trip. This is a basic
list and some trips like backpacking can require more specialized equipment.
Most of this is rather inexpensive except perhaps the sleeping bag. It is best
not to cut corners here or you may have a very cold camper during a cold weather
campout. Expert advice is available from any adult Scouter, just
ask.
This may sound like a lot of items but it is much more
comfortable to have. Some can be shared among friends. Many of these items are
usually around the house and can return to their daily duty when returning
home. Also, it helps a lot if personal gear is marked. You would not
believe how everything looks alike, and many times the Scouts aren't even sure
it is theirs.
As a reminder, the troop provides the tents, cooking gear,
dining fly, and lighting for the camp site. Feel free to use this as a
pre-camping checklist (you can find a list just like this in your Boy Scout
Handbook). Camping fees are due two weeks in advance of the trip as we
purchase all of the food and special equipment ahead of time.
